WATCH ABOVE: Skydivers playing Quidditch, a popular fictional sport in the Harry Potter universe – May 7, 2016

While playing “real” Quidditch with a flying broomstick may be impossible, a group of skydivers have found the next best thing.

The sport came into being after it was described in J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter series. It’s usually played on the ground; players have to carry a broom between their legs when running to pretend to be flying.

Breaking news from Canada and around the world sent to your email, as it happens.

But these skydivers have taken the game to another level entirely.

A recent video, which was uploaded to Facebook, shows a group them dressed up in their Quidditch gear leaping out of the plane, racing to capture the Quaffle, a ball around the size of a football, which you throw into one of three hoops to score your team points.

Even though there were no bludgers, balls of iron enchanted to knock players of their broom sticks, or a golden snitch, a golden ball with wings almost impossible to catch, the participants were at least in the air – one step closer to the “real” Quidditch.
