EXCLUSIVE: Child porn arrest could be linked to missing man case

A man accused in a child pornography case could be linked to a high-profile murder case.

37-year-old Will Rempel was arrested for possession and accessing child pornography, after graphic images were discovered on a cell phone.

Global News has since learned that Rempel is also being investigated in connection with the disappearance of Ryan Lane, a young Calgary father who hasn’t been seen since February.

Police are treating that case as a homicide and have been scouring a massive area west of Beiseker in hopes of finding clues, but so far they’ve come up empty.

Detectives searched Rempel’s home back in February, and also discovered that a truck he used to drive had been sold to a scrap metal business shortly after Lane’s disappearance.

Rempel has been granted bail with strict conditions; his next court date is August 9.
