EDMONTON – An overnight brush fire burned through a large forested area of Edmonton’s river valley near the Wolf Willow and Rio Terrace neighbourhoods.
Edmonton Fire Services responded to the call around 11p.m. Friday night.
At the height of the blaze, as many as 17 fire trucks were fighting the flames. The fire was declared under control at 1:21 a.m., two hours after crews arrived.
The flames were completely out at 3:20 a.m. Saturday morning.

Edmonton Fire Rescue Services spokesperson Sarah Meffen said that while the size of the fire is still being determined by investigators, the fire was considered to be burning for a long period and a large area was involved. However, the fire was contained to the ravine area.
No nearby homes required evacuation and no structures were damaged in the blaze.
