UPDATE: On April 27, RCMP confirmed that the human remains located on April 20 are those of Troy Napope.
Mounties believe the search for Troy Napope is over. Human remains were recovered Wednesday morning during a search west of the Saskatchewan Penitentiary in Prince Albert.
Members of the underwater team located the human remains in a slough on private property. The owners granted permission to police to search their property and are not connected to the investigation.

An autopsy is scheduled to take place in Saskatoon on Friday to confirm the identity of the remains.
Napope was reported missing in June 2015 after last being seen near the end of May at a house party.
Following a lengthy investigation, his disappearance was ruled a homicide.

Two people were arrested in March. Braidy Chase Vermette and Skylar Patrick Bird have been charged with first-degree murder.
Vermette escaped custody two weeks later when he was being escorted to hospital for treatment of an arm injury. He was recaptured the following week.
Mounties said although charges have been laid, their investigation into Napope’s death continues.
