A second person has been charged with murder in the disappearance of a Saskatchewan man. Skylar Patrick Bird, 29, is charged with first-degree murder in the death of Troy Napope.
On Monday, Mounties announced Braidy Chase Vermette, 27, had been charged with first-degree murder in Napope’s disappearance.
Police officials say Vermette, Bird and Napope were known to each other.
Napope was last seen on May 27 or 28, 2015 in Prince Albert and police believe he was at a house party in the 1400-block of 12 Street West.
His burned-out car was found north of the city on the morning of May 28 and he was reported missing on June 6.
Last month, Bird was charged with count each of arson and forcible confinement and made his first court appearance Feb. 26 on those charges. Police say further investigation resulted in the first-degree murder charge, which will replace the two previous charges.
Bird is scheduled to appear in court Tuesday on the new charge.
On Monday, Vermette made his first court appearance and will be back in court on April 4.

Police do not believe any other people played a role in Napope’s death.
Napope’s family found out that someone had been charged on Sunday night, and his sister, Christie Napope, says while the family is upset and sad, there is also relief.
In January, RCMP investigated a patch of forest north of Prince Albert, where Napope’s burned car had been found.
In February, RCMP asked residents within a 10-kilometre radius west of the Saskatchewan Penitentiary to search their property.
