MONTREAL – A 20-year-old West Island man was in court Wednesday after he was arrested by police in a massive police operation on Laurin Street in the borough of Pierrefonds-Roxboro.
Two-hundred people were forced from their homes on Tuesday when officers arrived at the young man’s home, believing there could be explosives inside.

While no bombs were found, Omar Elabi is being detained and is expected to be charged with a terrorism-related offence on Thursday.
Investigators are also looking into a video with alleged ties to terrorism activities in connection with their investigation into Elabi’s activities.
Elabi’s brother, Sami, is a jihadist living in Syria and can allegedly be seen in a video that shows him burning his Canadian passport and shooting it with a machine gun.
