PIERREFONDS-ROXBORO – Two people were arrested after a major police operation near the Sunnybrooke train station in Pierrefonds-Roxboro.

Local police said they received a tip from another force about someone making threats on social media.

Cmdr. Ian Lafrenière said a young man and a woman believed to be his mother surrendered to a police tactical unit and are being questioned.

He said police searched their home to determine if there is any credibility to the threat or whether it was a hoax.

About 200 people from a dozen homes were evacuated Tuesday morning as the tense situation unfolded.

Residents told Global News they were given about 10 minutes to get their belongings and leave their homes.
