Preliminary hearing underway in Okanagan murder case

KELOWNA – There is a development in the prosecution of a West Kelowna murder case with the start Tuesday of the preliminary inquiry at the Kelowna Law Courts.

In May 2015, forty-five-year-old Kevin Bourke McNally was stabbed in the chest during an altercation outside a Solar Road residence.

He died three days later in hospital.

Jose Alejandro Amestica, 51, is charged with second-degree murder.

The hearing will determine if there’s sufficient evidence to proceed to a jury trial.

It’s scheduled for about a week, with evidence coming from witnesses at the scene, police officers and ambulance attendants.
