REGINA – A 27-year-old man is in custody and facing several charges after a two-vehicle crash involving a stolen vehicle Monday morning.
At around 5:30 a.m. police spotted a vehicle driving erratically in the Cathedral neighbourhood. Not long after, the same vehicle was also spotted driving erratically in the Eastview neighbourhood.
Police believed the vehicle to be stolen but could not get close enough to the vehicle to confirm.
The vehicle ended up running a red light at Winnipeg St. & Saskatchewan Dr. and struck another vehicle. The driver of the suspect vehicle fled on foot, but was tracked by a canine unit to the 1700 block of Toronto St. where he was arrested and taken to hospital with what are described as minor injuries.
The driver of the second vehicle was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The suspect has been charged with Dangerous Operation of Motor Vehicle, Failure to Stop at Scene of Accident and Possession of Stolen Property.
