A 26-year-old snowboarder was flown to a Calgary hospital with serious chest injuries after what staff said was a bad fall at Lake Louise Ski Resort around 12:40 p.m. Thursday.
Dan Markham, a communications official at the resort, said the snowboarder was coming down the left side of Bald Eagle, a green run on the front side of the mountain, below Whitehorn Lodge.
Markham suggested the snowboarder didn’t hit anything, but the fall left the man with serious injuries.
EMS arrived on scene and treated the snowboarder at a first aid station with the help of ski patrol staff. STARS Air Ambulance was called to transfer the patient to Foothills Hospital in Calgary. He was in critical condition.
Markham said the snowboarder was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.
