Missing snowboarder found at Revelstoke Mountain Resort

REVELSTOKE – After 28 hours lost in the back country a missing snowboarder has been found on Revelstoke Mountain Resort.

Police say he was skiing out of bounds.

Chirag Patel, 36, last made contact with a friend at about noon Monday and was reported missing later that night.

Search and Rescue crews were called in to help find him, but it was Ski Patrol who ended up locating Patel on a ski run just before 4:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Patel was found without appropriate safety equipment and without his snowboard.

The avalanche risk in the area is rated considerable.

“The Revelstoke RCMP wish to thank the massive efforts made by Revelstoke Search and Rescue, Revelstoke Mountain Resort, and the pilot and team from Arrow Helicopters who searched for Mr. PATEL throughout the day, and through very risky conditions,” says S/Sgt. Kurt Grabinsky with the Revelstoke RCMP.
