Franklin and his team from the Granite Curling Club defeated two-time provincial Masters champion Doug Armour 10-4 in the men’s championship game. Franklin scored deuces in the second and fifth ends and sealed the victory with a 4-ender in the seventh end. It’s the first provincial title of any kind for Franklin. The two-time defending men’s champion Ron Westcott rink failed to qualify for the playoffs.
Curlers have to be over the age of 60 to compete in the Masters event. Both winning teams will now represent the province at the 2016 Canadian Masters Championships April 4-10 in Nova Scotia.
