KELOWNA- There’s been a large variation in the quality of play for the last couple weeks, so a blowout victory is just what the doctor ordered for the Kelowna Rockets.
The Rockets looked to be back to their old selves Saturday, beating up a tired Spokane Chiefs team 6-1 thanks to six unanswered tallies.
The win helps keep Kelowna’s hopes of another 50 win season alive, but they’ll need to stay perfect this week if they hope to do what no team has done four consecutive times.
The scoring came across the board for the visitors, with Tomas Soustal, Dillon Dube, Cal Foote, Rourke Chartier, Tyson Baillie, and Rodney Southam all pitching in during a game the Rockets desperately needed.
Michael Herringer picked up the win in the Kelowna net. He only saw 25 shots, but was sharp after giving up a first period Spokane goal.
The Rockets head to Tri-City tonight to finish up three games in three days against the Americans. They’ll finish out the season at home against the Royals, who currently lead the conference, and then with a home-and-home against the lowly Giants.
