WINNIPEG – Another Winnipeg Jets prospect will make his NHL debut tonight when the team welcomes the Nashville Predators to town.

Forward Scott Kosmachuk will play in his first game with the big club after being called up from the AHL’s Manitoba Moose this morning. He will replace Joel Armia who is expected to be out roughly a week with a lower-body injury. Kosmachuk has 14 goals and 13 assists in 59 games with the Moose this season. The 22-year-old was picked by the Jets in the third round, 70th overall in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft.

“You have to be patient in this game,” Kosmachuk told Jets TV. “Obviously, hard work is going to get you there eventually. It’s something I’ve dreamed of and it’s finally happening.”

Kosmachuk will be the sixth player to make his NHL debut with the Jets this season. Josh Morrissey, JC Lipon, Nikolaj Ehlers, Connor Hellebuyck and Nic Petan played their first game earlier in the year.

“Over the years, anybody you’ve talked to has a pretty clear memory of that first (game),” head coach Paul Maurice told Jets TV. “It’s a big game for them in their lives. For their family, pee wee coaches, anybody who has ever come across them. It takes so many people to help a player get to the NHL. It’s a great night.”
