Snow, rain and ice are on the way for Manitoba

WINNIPEG —  Northern Manitoba has snowfall warnings in place in Flin Flon, Cranberry Portage, Snow Lake, Lynn Lake, Leaf Rapids, and Puktawagan.

Snow will start Monday with 10-20cm expected by Tuesday night.

Across southern Manitoba, temperatures will once again be above normal but cooler than Sunday.

Cloud cover will move in Monday with showers starting late Monday night.

There is even a slight risk of thunderstorms in a few areas. Rain will continue Tuesday though as the system starts to clear, strong winds from the North (50-70 km/h) will lower temperatures into the afternoon. There is also the risk of rain changing to ice. Generally, accumulations will me small, under 10mm,  but some forecast models suggest there could be pockets of +25mm around the Red River Valley and to the East towards Ontario.

While freezing rain is possible as well, it looks like the primary area of concern for these conditions is in northern Ontario.

Special weather statements were issued for a number of areas early Monday morning.

At this time, the only warnings in place in Manitoba are the snowfall warnings up North.
