EDMONTON -RCMP in central Alberta issued a warning to drivers to be careful on Highway 2 Friday morning, as much of the road was in poor condition and even closed in some places because of collisions.
At 2:45 a.m. Blackfalds RCMP said Highway 2 northbound was blocked due to motor vehicle collisions. Traffic driving north on the QEII was being asked to exit at Blackfalds and take Highway 2A to Lacombe.

The highway was reopened a few hours later.
Further south, there were also multiple semi trucks blocking Highway 2 near Innisfail, including the area near the Highway 42 overpass and in the southbound lanes near Antler Ridge.
Police said all roads in the Innisfail, Red Deer and Ponoka areas were extremely slippery, and asked drivers to use extreme caution.
There’s no word if anyone was injured in any of the collisions.
