Butane extraction lab, drugs and weapons found in Calgary home

CALGARY – A marijuana grow op and a butane extraction lab were discovered in a southeast Calgary home raided earlier this month.

Police executed a search warrant on a home in the 2000 block of 28 Avenue S.W. on Feb. 4 following tips from the public which suggested the resident could be dealing cocaine.

Once inside the home, officers seized thousands of dollars worth of drugs including:

  • 249 grams of cocaine, estimated street value $24,900
  • 8 grams of heroin, estimated street value $2,000
  • 98.5 grams of methamphetamine, estimated street value $9,810
  • 781.1 grams of marijuana, estimated street value $7,811
  • 16 oxycodone pills, estimated street value of $240
  • 1 hydromorphine capsule

Investigators also seized cell phones, scales, packaging material, a Colt 45 caliber handgun which had been reported stolen, ammunition, two cocaine presses and $250 cash.

Police have charged 20-year-old Destiny Murdoch with possession of marijuana for the purpose of trafficking, possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, possession of methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking, possession of heroin for the purpose of trafficking and production of cocaine.
She is scheduled to appear in court on March 16.

The next day, police arrested Myrch Alexander Legerton, 28. He faces over a dozen charges including six counts of trafficking cocaine. He is scheduled to appear in court on Thursday.

A man with Legerton at the time of his arrest was also taken into custody on ten outstanding warrants. David Hillison Pratico, 30, is scheduled to appear in court on Thursday.
