REGINA – Some of Canada’s strongest people are in Regina for the 2016 Powerlifting and Bench Press Championship.

More than 375 men and women have registered for the competition, vying for national power lifting glory in the week-long contest.

Kanako Macdonald is competing for the first time. She said after being a stay at home mom with three kids, she decided to try something new.

“You get exactly how much better you’re getting everytime. I train hard every day, and if I can see that result every meet, competition, that’s the attraction part of it for me”, Macdonald explained.

The competition runs until Feb. 20. at the DoubleTree by Hilton in Regina.

Daily passes are $5. A week pass is $20.
