Thousands of bus commuters in Toronto should feel a less crowded and quicker ride during rush hour after 50 new buses were added to 24 routes over the weekend.
The TTC made the announcement as part of the city’s $95 million investment to improve bus service on congested routes.
“What we’re trying to achieve across the city is a network, or spine of routes, that delivers a 10 minutes or better service,”said TTC Chair Josh Colle during a press conference at Wellesley Station on Tuesday.
Colle said the plan is to further expand service to new express routes next month.
“This is still the beginning where we’re going to see later in a couple of months, the express buses and those new routes rolled out across the city,” Colle said.
“So many suburban parts of the city will have express service between important nodes.”
