According to the Coroners Service, “Preliminary examination suggests that the foot disarticulated naturally from the rest of the body, a result of prolonged immersion in water.”

In addition, the running shoe in question was first sold in North America in March 2013.

This is the 13th foot found washed up on the B.C. coast since 2007.

McClintock says of the 12 previous instances, coroners have been able to identify 10 of the feet, belonging to seven people.
