Woman killed in Stanley Mission, Sask. snowmobile crash

One woman killed, another injured after a snowmobile crashes in Stanley Mission, Sask. over the weekend. Google Maps

Not wearing a helmet may be a factor in a fatal northern Saskatchewan snowmobile crash. It happened early Sunday morning in Stanley Mission.

Mounties say the crash happened around 4 a.m. CT when the snowmobile driven by a 25-year-old woman collided with a rock along the shoreline of a bay.

The driver died as a result of her injuries. Her name has not been released.

A 20-year-old passenger was transported by paramedics to La Ronge Hospital. She has since been brought to Saskatoon for further medical treatment. There is no word on her current condition.

Police say neither women were wearing helmets.

Stanley Mission RCMP continue to investigate.
