Blogger Roosh V is not welcome in Montreal: Mayor Denis Coderre

UPDATE: Late Wednesday night, Roosh V cancelled the Montreal event, saying he couldn’t guarantee the safety of those planning to attend.

MONTREAL – Mayor Denis Coderre has spoken out about the blogger known as Roosh V, saying that “we don’t want that kind of individual here.”

Daryush Valizadeh has been criticized as being a rape advocate.

The controversial blogger has previously attempted to plan an anti-feminism seminar in Montreal, but this time, he is planning meet-ups in 165 cities around the world on Feb. 6, including Montreal.

Coderre denounced the blogger on his Twitter page, as did several other Canadian mayors.

Coderre adressed the issue during an executive committee meeting on Wednesday morning and again with reporters after the meeting.

“This is a city of living together, I’m very proud of Jim Watson and all of my colleagues,” he said.

“There’s no room for homophobic hatred and people who are pro rape.”

Roosh V plans his private meet-ups through his website, providing an address and photo of the meeting location.

Protests have been organized for many of the meeting locations, forcing the blogger to make changes and avoid “confrontation with unattractive women and their enablers.”

According to a post on his blog, he wants only men to meet “in private away from a loud, obnoxious, dishonest, and potentially violent mob,” therefore it is possible that the Palais des Congrès event may not even take place if there is talk of a protest.

In the meantime, Coderre said that Valizadeh is not welcome in his city.

The blogger said that he will attend the meeting in Sydney, Australia.
