An “ongoing police investigation” has forced the closure of Elmira District Secondary School in Woolwich Township north or Waterloo, Ont. on Monday.
No further information was given by Waterloo Region District School Board or Waterloo Regional Police Service as to why the school was closed.
A statement released on the board’s website said the closure was due to an “unforeseen circumstance.”
“We are sensitive to the impact this unfortunate circumstance has on students and staff, and look forward to resuming our normal schedule,” the statement read.
School officials said students are not to attend the school and bus transportation will not be in service.
Exams scheduled for Monday will be pushed to Tuesday and those scheduled for Tuesday will be written on Thursday.
A previously scheduled Professional Development Day on Wednesday, Feb. 3 remains unchanged.
