Caught on camera: mom thwarts would-be carjacker, while her kids watch

WATCH ABOVE: A Florida mother of two was caught on camera throwing a would-be carjacker from her vehicle while her kids watched from the backseat.


A Florida mother was caught on camera throwing a would-be carjacker out of her vehicle while her two children sat in the back.

The unidentified mother of two was seen on a convenience store’s surveillance camera Monday night grabbing one of three suspects who opened the passenger door of her car. The woman than  gets into a short scuffle with the man before he “ran away like [a] coward,” according to police.

“She was a mom and what that bad guy didn’t know, in the back seat of that car were two kids,” said Carl Zogby of the Hialeah Police to WSVN News. “She wasn’t going to let them be taken, so she fought, she dragged the guy out of the car, and they both ran away like cowards.”

Police believe the two men had tried to carjack another woman’s vehicle earlier, but also failed in that attempt.

The suspects have been identified as Juan Carlos Gonzales, Nicholas Rosado and Rebecca Utria.  They’re facing several charges including attempted carjacking.
