Preliminary hearing into murder of Daniel Pellerin taking place this week

A preliminary hearing is taking place this week for Trevor Kyle Hannan. The 24-year-old is facing a charge of first-degree murder in the slaying of Daniel Pellerin.

Pellerin, 28, died after being stabbed multiple times by two men during an attack in the parking lot of Farrell Hall on Windmill Road in Dartmouth in August of 2014.

Hannan was arrested shortly after the murder and has been remanded in custody ever since. The purpose of a preliminary hearing is to see if there is enough evidence to proceed to trial.

All evidence presented during the inquiry is subject to a publication ban.

A second individual, a 17-year-old boy from Dartmouth was also charged in Pellerin’s murder. He pleaded guilty to second-degree murder last year.
