Operation Overdrive returns to fight impaired driving

Starting Monday, an Saskatchewan Government Insurance (SGI) sponsored initiative with traffic authorities will target impaired drivers across the province.

Saskatchewan police and RCMP members will enforce Operation Overdrive over and above their regular enforcement duties until May 21st.

Areas of focus include impaired driving, improper use of seatbelts, aggressive driving and distracted driving.

December’s Operation Overdrive succeeded in taking 25 impaired drivers off the road. Law enforcement officers checked more than 4,200 vehicles during the previous traffic blitz, issuing 241 tickets in two days.

Overdrive will coincide with Canada Road Safety and is the 6th province-wide traffic safety initiative sponsored by SGI.
