TORONTO — A 55-year-old Toronto man has been killed in a head-on crash with a dump truck in Vaughan, Ont.

York region police confirm the man died at the scene after becoming trapped in his car when the vehicles collided around 2:30 p.m. Wednesday near Highway 27 and Rutherford Road.

Police said he was the only occupant in the car and that the driver of the dump truck was not injured.

Police said the road was to be closed for several hours.

The man’s name and age have not been released.

Police say their investigation is ongoing and are asking for eyewitnesses to contact them.
