Two teens are facing a slew of charges after being arrested in relation to a break and enter on Monday morning.
Police say the two young men, armed with a gun, made their way into an apartment on Mountain Avenue and demanded cash and personal items at about 4 a.m.
The victims weren’t hurt, and were able to call police while the robbers were still in their home.
Less than 10 minutes later, at 4:12 a.m., officers arrested one of the suspects in the backyard of the home. After a foot pursuit, officers and the K9 unit were able to arrest the second suspect on Chrysler Avenue.
18-year-old Braton Charles Joseph Smith and a 17-year-old boy, both from Dartmouth, face the following charges:
- break and enter
- break and enter with face masked
- two counts of unlawful confinement with a firearm
- personating a peace officer
- careless use of a firearm
- possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
- two counts of pointing a firearm
- possession of a firearm knowing it is unauthorized
- possession of a prohibited firearm with ammunition
- possession of a weapon obtained by the commission of an offence
- unauthorized possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle
- two counts of theft over $5000
The 17-year-old boy also faces two counts of assault with a weapon, two counts of possession contrary to an order where a person commits an offence with a firearm, and breach of probation under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
