It will give away 30 cheques of $1,000 to current and former students with the greatest debt load.

Faculty president, Tim Walters, hopes the contest puts a spotlight in decreased provincial funding for Okanagan College and other post-secondary institutions.

Walters notes the average student graduates with $32,000 in loan debt.

Applications for the contest are due by Feb 26th with the cheques to be awarded March 1st.
