Calgary weather: deep chill to hit on Wednesday

CALGARY – You might want to keep your toque and gloves nearby as a deep chill is expected to embrace the city midweek.

Although Calgary has experienced some fairly mild weather for the past few days, meteorologist Jordan Witzel believes the mercury will drop on Wednesday.

“The expected weather pattern later this week is more typical of what we see in southern Alberta in late fall and early winter,” said Witzel. “Cold arctic air is anticipated to slip south from the Arctic and push against the southern Rockies.”

Witzel said the cold air movement should create typical January snowfall amounts in Calgary on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, with as much as 15 centimetres by the end of the week.
