Police release man arrested after fatal collision in Halifax parking lot

HALIFAX – Police say they have not charged the driver of a vehicle that struck and killed a young man in a Halifax parking lot on Tuesday.

The man, identified as 24-year-old Ian Perry-Berger, was hit near the Walmart store on Mumford Road. He died at the scene from his injuries.

Const. Dianne Woodworth said in a news release Thursday that the 52-year-old man who was in arrested in connection with the incident had been released Wednesday evening.

Investigators have ruled out alcohol as a factor in the collision, but not distracted driving.

Police are asking anybody with information about the incident to come forward.
