Calgary police seek man who grabbed 9-year-old boy in Edgemont

At approximately 3:30 p.m., on Friday, Dec. 18, 2015, a nine-year-old boy was on his way home from school when he was approached by a man near the intersection of Edgemont Boulevard and Edenwold Drive N.W. Global News

CALGARY – Police are looking for a suspect following a suspicious encounter between a young boy and a man in the community of Edgemont on Friday.

It happened at around 3:30 p.m. near the intersection of Edgemont Boulevard and Edenwold Drive N.W.

Investigators said a nine-year-old boy was on his way home from school when he was approached by a man who picked him up by his waist and carried him across Edgevalley Drive.

The child was able to break free from the man and run to his babysitter, who was nearby.

According to investigators, the babysitter and the man engaged in a brief verbal altercation before the man left. The victim’s mother reported the incident the next day.

Police describe the suspect as about 27-years-old, 5’5” to 5’6” tall with brown hair and a beard. He was wearing a blue toque, a black jacket and had in white earphones.
