HALIFAX — A 33-year-old man is in hospital with serious injuries after being injured in a knife attack in Cole Harbour.
Shortly before 10 o’clock Friday evening, RCMP were called to a stabbing on a pathway near Silistria Drive in Cole Harbour, N.S.
RCMP say the victim was walking along the path when he was approached and stabbed. He ran to several nearby homes before finally getting help.
A couple who lives on the street tells Global News that the victim knocked on their door and was bleeding from the neck and his face. They called 911 and held compressions on his wounds and paramedics arrived.

Police say the victim suffered serious but non-life threatening injuries and are describing the attack as a “random act of violence.”
“They don’t know each other and it doesn’t appear to be any motive in particular for this crime,” says Cpl. Jadie Spence, RCMP.
“It’s not very typical. You do sometimes see offences and sometimes violent offences where the two people involved are not known to each other, but here, we have in addition to that, not known to each other but there doesn’t appear to be any particular reason,” Cpl. Spence says. “The victim wasn’t robbed and there was no prior dispute.”
Police arrested a 26-year-old Cole Harbour man near the stabbing. Despite the unusual act of violence, RCMP say the public does not need to be concerned.
“Fortunately in this case, an arrest was made minutes after the offence. With this person under arrest the public can be assured they’re safe at this point.”
It’s anticipated charges will be laid sometime Saturday with the accused being remanded until a court appearance on Monday.
