Deadmau5 admitted to hospital, sneaks out and hops plane to play show

Ontario-born music producer/performer deadmau5 (real name Joel Zimmerman) has always played by his own set of rules (for example, speeding around town in his former “Purrari” or getting engaged and then breaking said engagement on Twitter).

His latest stunt falls into that same pattern, though this one might have been more risky. Presenting with a severe lymph node infection, Zimmerman was admitted to hospital on Thursday. (The musician wouldn’t reveal what city the hospital is in.)

In true deadmau5 fashion, the golf-ball-sized lymph nodes didn’t stop him from getting to a show he was scheduled to put on that night in Florida. Somehow, the artist ended up hopping on a plane to Miami in order to spin at a Red Bull event — as evidenced by the Instagram video, below.

Zimmerman even admitted outright that he sneaked out of the hospital without anyone noticing.

He claims he’s now back in the hospital getting help for his condition, which he says is “nothing serious.”
