Chrysler’s Windsor plant resumes production after stoppage at parts supplier

WINDSOR, Ont. – A Chrysler assembly plant in Windsor, Ont., is resuming production this afternoon after a temporary stoppage due to a strike at a parts supplier.

The Chrysler workers are heading in for their afternoon shift today after the day shift was cancelled for all except skilled trades.

Unionized workers at the Dakkota Integrated Systems plant in nearby Tecumseh walked off the job this morning after rejecting a three-year tentative agreement.

Dakkota supplies the instrument panels on all Chrysler Minivans.

After 75 per cent came out in favour of an improved contract in a second vote today, the Dakkota workers returned to the parts plant.

The Chrysler Canada website says 4,429 workers are employed at the Windsor plant on three shifts.

The plant makes the Dodge Grand Caravan, Chrysler Town and Country and the Volkswagen Routan.
