TORONTO – A 34-year-old Toronto woman has been arrested in connection to a distraction theft involving a 96-year-old woman.
Police said the alleged incident happened on Sept. 9 while the victim was walking in the Victoria Park Avenue and Lawrence Avenue East area.
It is alleged the accused approached the senior in a car, offered some gold jewelry for sale and drove her to a nearby bank to withdrawal money.

Police said the suspect then put the jewelry on her neck while removing the victim’s gold necklace without her knowing.
The woman fled the scene after she stole the jewelry on the victim’s neck and selling her costume jewelry.
Mihaela Miclescu was arrested on Dec. 6 and charged with theft under $5,000. She made a court appearance on Monday.
Police believe there may be more victim and anyone with information is urged to come forward.
