TORONTO – An elderly man has died and another person is in hospital after a fire at a North York home Sunday afternoon.
Toronto Fire Services received a call at 3:37 p.m. about the blaze at 19 Vinci Crescent, near Wilson Avenue and Allen Road.

There were reports of black smoke billowing from the back of the home; firefighters were forced to break windows to allow better visibility into the building.
Officials believe the fire started in the basement, but eventually traveled to the attic, opening up the roof of the home.
One woman in her 30s was treated for minor smoke inhalation, while an older man was pronounced dead at the scene.
EMS crews remain on the scene.
