Montreal police investigating fatal stabbing in L’île-Bizard

MONTREAL – Police are investigating after a 30-year-old man was fatally stabbed in L’Ile-Bizard on Saturday night.

The assault happened at  around 8:15 p.m. in a residence on St. Maurice Street, near du Pont Street.

Two men, a 24-year-old and a 30-year-old, rang the doorbell of a home on St. Maurice Street. A 32-year-old man who lives in the house answered the door.

According to Montreal police (SPVM), a conflict ensued and the resident was hit with a blunt object.

Police believe that is when the victim, stabbed one of his attackers.

When officers arrived on the scene, both men were injured and required medical attention.

The stabbing victim was taken to hospital, where he later died of his injuries.

The resident of the home was also treated in hospital and later taken to a detention centre.

The 24-year-old is also being detained for questioning.

Both men are facing charges in the 26th homicide of 2015, on  SPVM territory.
