WINNIPEG — A man who was shot by police following a pursuit has died, sources tell Global News.
The police chase started at 12:30 p.m. when officers say they came in contact with the man driving in the area.

Witnesses tell Global News police had boxed the driver in where he sat in his car for some time before several shots were heard. Police say shots were fired at 1:15 p.m., emergency first aid was administered to the man before he was rushed to hospital.

Most of the activity appears to be isolated to a field in the northwest corner of Kenaston Boulevard and Grant Avenue where a white sedan with what appears to be multiple bullet holes sits surrounded by police vehicles.
Traffic is backed up both ways and Winnipeg police are asking people to avoid the area.
The Independent Investigation Unit of Manitoba has been notified.
