MONTREAL – Firefighters responded to a garage fire in Rivière-des-Prairies after a 911 call was placed at 9:20 p.m. Thursday night.
Witnesses said they heard what sounded like an explosion coming from inside the garage.
On location, firefighters discovered a burning car parked next to the front door.
The building suffered only minor damages, but the vehicle is a total loss.
No one was inside the building at the time.
The circumstances surrounding the fire are considered suspicious and the investigation has been transferred to Montreal police.
The car was towed and will be analyzed for evidence.
This is the second time the commercial garage has been the target of arson.
Back in February, a white van crashed into the front garage door before catching fire.
Police at the time found traces of accelerant and an investigation was opened.
