Police searching for suspect in Panorama Hills shooting

CALGARY – Police are searching for a suspect in connection to a shooting in the northwest community of Panorama Hills on Tuesday.

Officers were called to a home along Panamount Heights N.W. at around 11 p.m.

When they arrived, police found one man injured. He was rushed to hospital in serious but non-life-threatening condition. His condition was later upgraded to serious but stable.

Investigators said the victim had just arrived home when an unknown man approached him and spoke with briefly before shooting him.

The victim was able to get inside, at which time family members called 911.

Police said the victim is known to them, and they were able to speak with several witnesses when they arrived at the scene.

They do not believe the shooting was a random attack.

A neighbour told Global News they heard five shots fired in total, and said police had visited the house many times before.

The suspect is described as a man dressed in black.  He was driving an older model gold or champagne Acura RDX or Lexus RX350.

The Calgary Police Service Guns and Gangs Unit is leading the investigation.
