Two people are dead after a helicopter crashed Thursday in Saskatchewan. The two men were repairing power lines north of Paynton when their helicopter crashed on the North Saskatchewan River.

The pilot, a 55-year-old man from Campbell River, B.C., and his passenger, a 30-year-old Prince Albert, Sask. man, were killed in the crash.

SaskPower has confirmed the pair had been contracted to install visual markers on a power line in the area.

Emergency crews spent the afternoon at the scene.

The Transportation Safety Board has deployed a team of investigators to try and determine why the helicopter went down.
