3.9 magnitude earthquake rattles through Ottawa area, parts of Quebec

Earthquakes Canada is reporting that a 3.9 magnitude earthquake rumbled through several areas across central Canada Tuesday afternoon.

The earthquake was located 20 kilometres northeast of Shawville, Que.

That puts it a little more than 60 kilometres west northwest of both Ottawa and Gatineau, Que.

Earthquakes Canada says that the earthquake hit at 12:36 p.m. eastern and was 13 km in depth.

There are no reported injuries as a result.
