Liberal Wayne Long wins Saint John-Rothesay riding over Rodney Weston

SAINT JOHN – Liberal candidate Wayne Long wins the Saint John-Rothesay riding, snagging a third consecutive seat from Conservative incumbent Rodney Weston.

Early polling showed that Conservative incumbent Rodney Weston could have held onto his seat giving him a third consecutive riding in the riding, but Long took the majority of votes tonight.

The riding has had both Conservative and Liberal representation in its history. The NDP finished in second place in the 2011 election for the first time in its history.

Saint John-Rothesay is the most anglophone if the province’s three main cities, with only 4.7 per cent of the population speaking french as their first language, and only 4.6 per cent identifying as immigrants.
Long also won the seat over NDP AJ Griffin and Green Party candidate Sharon Murphy.
