EDMONTON – Ziad Aboultaif, the Conservative candidate for Edmonton Manning, won the seat Monday in the 2015 federal election.

This was a new riding and one to watch. There were no incumbents offering here.

This region of northeast Edmonton has historically voted on the political right.

Aboultaif is the owner of a distribution business.

He was running against retired corrections officer Sukhdev (Dave) Aujla for the Liberals, Aaron Paquette, an artist, for the NDP. Materials engineer and electrician Chris Vallee was running for the Green Party, Mebreate Deres was running as an Independent and Andre Vachon was running as a Marxist-Leninist.
