Calgary Flames’ home opener featured at free Fort Calgary viewing party

CALGARY – Los Angeles-based indie pop group Fitz & The Tantrums will be performing at Fort Calgary on Wednesday during a free viewing party for the Calgary Flames’ home opener.

Fans who attend the official NHL season-opening celebration will be able to watch the Flames battle the Vancouver Canucks on giant outdoor video screens.

Fitz & The Tantrums will host a pre-game perform at 7:20 p.m., followed by puck drop at 8 p.m., a first intermission performance by Reuben and the Dark and then a second intermission performance by Calgary’s own Jocelyn Alice.

Doors to the family-friendly event open at 3 p.m. and organizers say there will be prizes and giveaways, as well as special guest appearances by NHL alumni.

Flames fans can also watch the game at Flames Central, which is hosting a viewing party at 5 p.m.
