Armed robbery forces Kelliher school into ‘hold and secure’ mode

REGINA – A bank robbery early Thursday morning in Kelliher, Sask. put the local school in a ‘hold and secure’ mode.

Shortly after 9:00 a.m. RCMP from Melville/Ituna received a report of an armed robbery at a financial institution on the 400 block of 2nd Ave in Kelliher.

Early investigation by RCMP revealed that a man entered a bank armed with a firearm and demanded cash. The man fled on foot with a unknown amount of cash.

No employees were injured during the robbery.

RCMP are looking for a fair skinned man around 5’6″ to 5’10” tall. He was wearing a green hooded sweater with a baseball cap. He also was wearing a plaid jacket and jeans. A dark bandana with a white pattern was covering most of the suspect’s face.

Kelliher is approximately 140 km northeast of Regina.
