Burlington man charged after alleged sexual assault of teenage tanning salon employee

TORONTO — A 35-year-old Burlington man faces charges in connection with the alleged sexual assault of a teenage tanning salon employee.

Police said the suspect, a client at a Burlington tanning salon, allegedly offered a 17-year-old girl a ride home after her shift at the salon ended on Wednesday.

The suspect then allegedly drove to his apartment to pick something up while the girl used the washroom.

Police said the suspect then made sexual advances towards the girl that were refused and then attempted to prevent her from leaving the apartment, although she did manage to exit and wait outside.

The suspect then allegedly drove the girl to her friend’s residence and made further advances towards her in the vehicle before sexually assaulting her, police said.

Richard Shamoon, 35, of Burlington was arrested and charged with sexual assault and forcible confinement on Sunday.
