Sangita Patel sat down with Helen Mirren at the Toronto International Film Festival on Friday and it didn’t take long for her to realize one of Hollywood’s leading ladies was also one of its most interesting, especially when it comes to her guilty pleasures.

Mirren was in town promoting her latest flick Eye In The Sky; all about drones and people’s privacy – something she says “is long gone.”

She goes on to talk about the biggest invasion of privacy in her eyes – paparazzi – telling Sangita, “any time with paparazzi, it’s a horrible a moment, especially when you’re unaware of it.”

Mirren isn’t calling out all photographers, just the sneaky ones: “when people sneakily take a shot of you with a long distance thing and you have no idea that it has happened, it’s very disturbing, and it’s an uncomfortable nasty feeling.”

As for the first time she was “paparazzi’d” she remembers, “I was caught with my husband leaving a cut price electronics store with a microwave in a trolly, that was the glamour.” She jokes “it was very un-Kim Kardashian.”

When asked how she enjoys her time off, Mirren says she likes to unwind by watching America’s Next Top Model or Dance Moms or Border Control – a woman after our own hearts!

As for Fast and the Furious 8; “they haven’t asked me, I don’t know why, I keep putting out feelers, but they don’t ask me.”
