CALGARY – A firefighter suffered minor injuries while battling a blaze in the community of Ranchlands on Thursday.
Fire crews were called to a townhouse complex along Ranchview Terrace N.W. at around 6 p.m.
When they arrived, firefighters saw thick black smoke coming from a second-storey window.
Four people living in the home had been able to get out safely.
Crews were able to keep the flames from spreading to neighbouring units by flooding the building with a large volume of water.
The unit where the fire originated suffered extensive smoke damage.
The only injury was to a firefighter who rolled his ankle.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
